Last surviving male white rhino in the world has died: The last white rhino in the world has died after the ill health at the age of 45. His name was Sudan and he died at OI Pejeta Conservancy in Kenya. He was put to sleep on Monday morning. His death left his two females rhino; one is daughter and other one is granddaughter.
Why white rhino is so rare?
There are five species of rhino in this planet. Rhino comes up 2nd largest mammal after elephants. The White Rhino is divided into two sub-species. One is Northern northern white rhino and other is southern white rhino. The northern white rhino were endangered many years before. So, there can be only southern white rhino left in this world. Sudan was the last surviving rarer variety of male white rhino.
There are only four white rhino left in 2009, at Ol Pejeta in Kenya. People hope that there will be an native habitat and would encourage breeding. But fortunately there were no pregnancies and ‘Sudan’ was retired from his role as male rhino.
